The Sanskrit word ‘Hatha’ translates as sun and moon. It also refers to practice done with vigor and force. Join Mary Simmering for a fun, flowing, detoxifying and sweat-inducing asana. Each class brings a mixture of creative sequences with ample time for meditation and breath-work.

Therapeutic Yoga: The Nature of Healing
Therapeutics for Springtime
Students will learn how optimal alignment helps to heal aches and pains, relieve stress and boost overall health and vitality. Combining expertise in Reiki and Anusara yoga, Sarah customizes class to serve individual needs of class members while working toward increased strength, balance and flexibility—as always. This class is appropriate for those who want or need to practice from a chair. No yoga experience required.

Hatha Yoga and Meditation
Class will emphasize Mindfulness (awareness of present experience with acceptance) as we practice Asana (yoga postures), Pranayama (breathwork) and meditation. The physical practice will feature poses designed to open hips, shoulders and lower back in preparation for seated meditation. Class will end in tranquil meditation. Open to all levels. Beginners welcome.
Restorative Yoga
(not currently meeting. Will resume in September)
Experience your body fully supported with yoga props that facilitate deep opening, relaxation and release! Restorative yoga stimulates the body’s innate relaxation response which gently melts tension and stress. Mental and emotional benefits include feeling calm, well-rested, clear-headed and emotionally centered. Class themes will focus and nurture your exploration. No yoga experience is necessary.
Slow Flow
This mindful practice is deliciously slow and will move you through the entire body gently and sweetly. Slow flow allows time to go deeper and explore the experience of the postures as you cultivate strength, balance, breath and flexibility. Don’t be fooled– this class will be challenging!

Vinyasa I Yoga
Release the day’s tensions with vinyasa yoga. A vinyasa is essentially a series of flowing, connected poses, incorporating breath and movement and cultivating heat, strength, flexibility, and balance. Standing poses increase strength and stamina, bending and twisting poses improve flexibility, balancing poses create focus. Vinyasa yoga teaches us to cultivate an awareness that links each action to the next on the mat and in our lives. Fluid music creates a serene atmosphere in which to integrate mind, body and spirit.

Beginner’s Alignment
Class provides a safe environment for students to learn the basic yoga poses with focus on alignment to strengthen and stretch the body. Learn to use yoga props– strap, blanket, block and chair. A heart-centered approach allows for freedom and play while the student cultivates balances and well-being. No yoga experience necessary.

Vinyasa II Yoga
Vinyasa II is designed to be fun as well as to challenge and nurture your practice. Class themes drawn from the gunas, yamas and niyamas will inform the practice. Expect a creative flow of namaskar sequences, standing postures, forward bends, and hip openers. Backbends, inversions, and meditation will inspire our greatest possibilities. Students are invited to playfully align the body, mind and heart while practicing balancing poses, seated poses, mudra and mantra.|
An intermediate to advanced levels class.
Glow with the Flow
Start your day with an invigorating practice that leaves you feeling expansive yet relaxed. This vinyasa class incorporates breath and awareness to take each student to his or her “edge”. Cultivate balance, muscular strength, and body-mind awareness as Shelley will provide some alignment direction while keeping the tempo of the class challenging. These classes are appropriate for active beginners through to advanced students. Modified versions of more challenging postures will always be given. Be sure to work at your own pace, and take breaks whenever you feel the need. Come and be inspired!

Kid’s Yoga
A lighthearted beginner’s practice for boys and girls ages 6 - 10 who are accompanied by an adult. Adults are invited to practice playfully alongside their favorite youngsters!
Flow with Grace
Whether new to yoga or a regular practitioner, this class will teach the basic alignment principles and foundational skills of yoga in a balanced asana practice. Practice coordinating movement and breath. Cultivate positive qualities of Mind and Heart with uplifting themes and intentions.

Saturday Morning Yoga
Start your weekend with this playful, heart-centered class. Uplifting themes and intentions will cultivate positive qualities of Mind and Heart. Explore the stable foundation and expressive elements in each pose, as well as the attitudinal energy that infuses each action and breath throughout your practice. Learn precise alignment for the body and coordination of movement with the breath. An Open Levels class.

Gentle Beginner’s Yoga
Designed for first timers and students who wish to practice using a chair for support. Whether seated or standing, students receive step by step instruction on the fundamental poses. Individual attention is available, and students will learn to use yoga props—strap, blanket, block and chair—to enhance their practices. As in all our classes, expect to increase strength, balance and flexibility, cultivate breath awareness, and experience relaxation and well-being.
